Continuing with the theme of things going back to some semblance of normality, last week the GACCA finally had a chance to gather and celebrate the upcoming holiday. It was such a stark contrast from our Zoom holiday party last year. First and foremost, this involved pants. And deodorant. I’ll explain. I personally enjoyed last year’s holiday party, specifically because it was over Zoom, and the fact that I did it all from the comfort of my own living room, because I’m a cave troll and happy to admit it. It was great, we played holiday trivia, drank holiday cocktails, caught up on how everyone was doing (and how we were all dealing with the pandemic), and we even had an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest ((I naturally wore my tried-and-true Jesus wearing a party hat, double-fisting wine bottles with a caption that reads “Go me, it’s my birthday!”)). Granted, it wasn’t what people would have preferred ((except me)), but we made the most of a horrible situation, and had a ball in the process. I have since changed, by the way. I wear deodorant regularly now. It took a global pandemic to inspire me to want to be out and about more, and, you know, smell nice. Although pants are still a body prison. Just saying. But this year was a genuine treat. And what’s more important is WHERE we held the party: Sixty Café and Bar at FantaSea Resorts Flagship Hotel, located at 60 North Maine Avenue in Atlantic City.

If you’re not familiar with this hotel, allow me to divulge. Standing sentry at the beginning of Atlantic City’s historic Boardwalk, this luxurious 32-story resort offers views that excite the senses and beckon you to your own private balcony. This family-friendly retreat offers a charming mix of amenities and activities unique to the Atlantic City landscape yet sits just far enough away from the crowds. Flagship features studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites. Each unit comes equipped with a kitchenette, dining area and private balcony, offering spectacular views of the Atlantic City skyline, beach, and ocean. Owners receive free indoor parking (1 vehicle per unit), access to the business center, and discounted wireless internet access.

Which leads me to my next point: the party location. Sixty Café and Bar is located on the ground floor of the Flagship. First off, let me explain how the space is totally gorgeous. The bright and vibrant interior design is reminiscent of a different location, like in South Beach or Miami. Very hip and airy. The bar alone is stunning. It’s the perfect space for anything causal, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, enjoying live entertainment while sipping ((or if you’re me, gracefully gulping)) hand-crafted cocktails. They present live music every week, all year long, featuring a wide variety of local musicians and well-known acts that regularly play along the Jersey Shore and in Atlantic City. From solo artists to the bands that shape the local music scene, they offer something for everyone.

Plus, they have a fantastic Happy Hour to boot, which they refer to as their “Happier” Hour, and for good reason. Their Happier Hour menu is filled with great drink specials, happitizers ((#adorbs)) and several shareable plates that you and your group can enjoy. And the best part of Sixty Café and Bar? You don’t need to own a condo to visit. Just go right into the lobby and have a ball.

We had the chance to enjoy the awesomeness that is Sixty Café and Bar, relaxing in their lounge area, enjoying delicious bites and cocktails, and exchanging gifts. We also had the chance to donate toys to help support The Atlantic County and South Ocean County Toys for Tots Program. And you know why? Because contrary to societal pressures, this holiday season is not about added stress, insane levels of debt and running yourself ragged trying to fit in visits with everyone you know. This is the season for giving. We sometimes forget that. This program is a crucial fixture in our county, supporting local municipalities and as you well know, 2020 and 2021 have been unprecedented years due to COVID-19. More than ever, they need our help. So, if you can, the next time you’re out on the hunt for crystal clear tape, or replacement bulbs for your window string lights because your puppy went to town, pick up a toy and drop it off at one of their designated drop locations. The level of joy you will bring to a child in need is priceless. Check out their website for more information and drop-off locations: https://atlanticnj.toysfortots.org/

And not to be a nudge but ((shameless work plug)) reservation spots are going fast for Deauville Inn’s Brunch with Santa this Saturday and Sunday! Enjoy a comprehensive brunch menu curated by our very own Chef TJ, cookie decorating for the kiddos, and delicious brunch beverages for the adults! https://www.deauvilleinn.com

Stay tuned for NYE party ideas… Until next week, Folks! #jerseystrong
