What does your venue specialize in?
Authentic Mexican Cuisine!
What is the current reason one MUST come to your venue?
BIRRIA! Our Birria is well worth the trip. Beef if the traditional protein option, slow roasted overnight in spices, and then slowly braised until tender, then served with the beef consume for even more authentic flavor. And while the tacos are the most popular option, we serve Birria in many forms, including a torta (Mexican sandwich), quesadilla, burrito, or as a topping for fries or nachos. There is even a chicken or shrimp option for those who don’t love red meat.
What is your secret favorite that the crowds have yet to discover?
Our Birria and Shrimp Pizza is the ultimate experience, with layers of flour tortillas, tender Birria meat, grilled shrimp, Chihuahua cheese, loaded with onion and cilantro and served with a side of consume for dipping.
Do you have a signature product, service, dish or drink (if so, please include a picture and description)?
It’s hard to list just one. We off a traditional Mexican menu loaded with 50 different types of burritos, chimichangas, flautas. We highly recommend trying our Horchata, made out of rice, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Why is your venue a necessary part of Atlantic City or County?
We are a contribution to the multiculturism of Atlantic County, adding rich Mexican heritage to the area, in a modern way. While there are many Mexican restaurants in Atlantic County, we set ourselves apart by our motto, “quality over quantity”, and we stick to this concept tightly.
What can you tell us about the owner and founder?
Chef Marco Rendon, owner, and founder of Taqueria Rendon, was born in Mexico, grew up in Atlantic City and worked in several of the top local restaurants in the area, including Roberta’s with Joe Muldoon in Northfield, and Angeline with Michael Symon at Borgata. In 2014, when Luke Palladino opened a restaurant in Northfield, Rendon went to work for him, learning everything he needed to know about work ethic and business management. It was his experience there where he felt the inspiration to branch out on his own, starting from his house, during COVID, and then opening his Northfield location after only 5 months.
What are some other special reasons to come visit?
We offer a casual, clean atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner for two or for a larger celebration. While we offer traditional refreshing Mexican soft drinks like our Horchata, Jarrito, and Agua de Jamaica, we are BYOB so feel free to bring your coctéles!
Do you have any weekly specials or upcoming events?
We run special events often, like our Cinco de Mayo Celebration last weekend, with live music, face painting, bounce machines, and awesome food. Keep checking in on our Facebook page and Instagram for updates on upcoming events!
