Hi there. Ok, let’s try this again. I wrote an article last week. The first one in a long time. Going on about how I’m back, and all that jazz, and like a ding dong I never posted it. Such is life! So, I will recap really quick ((screen goes all squiggly setting the stage for a flashback)). Picture it, Strathmere, NJ! The day is June 3rd, 2022. Judy sits at her laptop, gulping her second cup of Lavazza ((product placement!)) typing words with fervor, about Bally’s epic reopening, having just returned from her wedding planning hiatus, now a newlywed with a finger prison. ((fade back to present)). The end. So! Lots of stuff happening this weekend, folks. Let’s jump right in.
First, kicking off their summer season this Thursday ((it will be yesterday for you, since this doesn’t come out until Friday)), is Masters of Illusion at Harrah’s Resort AC! Fancy a slight of hand, do you? Then this show is most definitely for you. I’m excited about this for many reasons, but one in particular, my father was an avid fan of magic shows. I remember as a kid, whilst “down the shore”, staying at our house in Margate, coming to Atlantic City to see the greats at the time, like Doug Henning, and David Copperfield ((and yes, I realize I’m totally dating myself right now)). From spine tingles to gut-busting laughs, Masters of Illusion is running NOW through September 4th. Definitely check them out this summer.
Over at Showboat we have Atlantic City Fashion Week, running Thursday, June 9th through Saturday, June 11th, featuring some great up and coming fashion designs. Founded in 2011, Atlantic City Fashion Week is an event that rivals the likes of fashion week NYC, Paris and Milan. Twice yearly, thousands descend on America’s playground to take part in a high fashion event that includes fashion shows, seminars, celebrity appearances, retail events and industry parties. Thursday will feature their student and novice designers. Friday they will show case Ready to Wear collections from today's hottest designers and retailers. Then on Saturday they will feature couture high fashion. If you are a sartorial type of person this event is absolutely for you. Purchase your tickets at www.atlanticcityfashionweek.com.
Something else to take note of at Showboat is The Orange Loop Rock Festival, running Saturday, June 10th through Sunday, June 12th, for the ultimate rock experience featuring 80s hair metal and 2000s rock bands as well as a vendor village, rockstar tributes, midget wrestling, food trucks, and much more. As you should know by now, I am a huge lover of The Orange Loop, and it’s 3 full blocks of one-of-a-kind restaurants, bars, live music, coffee, yoga and more. You could spend an entire weekend in the Orange Loop and never have to leave, but I digress… This weekend at the Showboat Fair Grounds you can enjoy the musical awesomeness of bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Chevelle, Hoobastank, and Hinder, just to name a few. Because coming back to the Showboat Fairgrounds next week, starting June 16th and running through September 5th, is the GACCA’s favorite traveling, sizzling hot, and hilarious show, Cirque Risque! The infamous Cirque Risque is a hot exhibit of raw sensuality and unparalleled multi-talented artistry drawing audiences from around the world.
