I’m a months-in-advance-plan-ahead kind of gal, much to my fiancé’s chagrin. Seriously, I start talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas in the summer and he looks at me like I have 5 heads. Which in hindsight would kind of super because I could then disperse the chaos constantly swirling around in this one brain into 4 more brains to even the keel. That would be amazing. But that’s a discussion for my therapist. Anyhoo, planning ahead. Labor Day Weekend is fast approaching! Only 2 more weeks to go until the summer comes to a grinding, screeching halt. The time of year when the kiddos go back to school. The time when the weather gets slightly cooler. The time where we have to take that vast supply of sunscreen we bought online in super bulk back in March, because we had this zany of idea of dedicating the entire summer to responsibly becoming a deep-golden-goddess only to find out we were going back to work ((shameless plug #Deauvilleinn is the coolest place to get married at the Jersey Shore… insert devilish grin here)) and tuck it all away in giant storage bin, then shove in the back of an-already-overly-stuffed closest. Back to reality.
There is SO much happening this upcoming Labor Day Weekend! So much so that I don’t have enough room to share everything, so I will highlight a few note-worthy options: laughs, beach parties, and live music.
If you’re looking for a good laugh, there are a couple acts showing up and serving some much-needed side stitches this upcoming LDW. One of my favorites, actor, standup comedian, and podcaster, Bill Burr is coming back to AC, and performing at the Mark E. Etess Arena, inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Friday, September 3rd, and Saturday, September 4th, at 8:00 pm. You may recognize him from Breaking Bad, The Madalorian ((so good!)), or The King of Staten Island. Tickets are on sale at https://etessarena.ticketsoffice.org.
Over at the Borgata Event Center you can see Last Comic Standing finalist, Gabriel Iglesias for two shows, at 5 pm and 8:30 pm, on September 4th. What I love about Gabriel Iglesias, is he uses him own personal struggles as relief comedy and has a cleaner adult humor style. He is highly entertaining and definitely knows how to work a crowd. Tickets are on sale at https://theborgata.evenue.net.
If you’re looking to have a blowout beach party, then Bungalow Beach Bar is a great place. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with dining both indoors and outdoors, either on their Boardwalk Terrace, located off California Avenue, or their rooftop deck overlooking the beach, Bungalow is the kind of place where you kind of forget you’re in NJ. On LDW their beach turns into a day club with the hottest DJs, VIP bottle service, daybeds, cabanas, and lounge chairs, adorned with palm trees, hammocks, and couches. They also have a very cool swim up pool bar. And if that wasn’t enough, the couches on their boardwalk terrace becomes a Hookah Lounge at night. Reservations are highly recommended as this place gets packed quickly. Go to https://www.bungalowbeachac.com/reservations.
One of my regular go-to places is Landshark Bar & Grill on the beach at Resorts Casino Hotel. Offering elevated casual fair, Landshark, is all about great eats, great drinks and good ol’ fashioned fun. Relax al fresco on their oceanfront deck, while enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. They have DJs spinning all weekend with late night VIP Bottle Service so you can savor every minute before the summer ends. This place is SO relaxed, and SO much fun! Outdoor seating is on a first come first serve, basis ((Et hem, just like #DeauvilleInn)) so get there early and secure a spot!
And of course, it wouldn’t be an end of summer blowout party on the beach without HQ2 Beach Club and Nightclub. Situated on prime North Beach property, at Ocean Resort Casino, they feature 6 private bungalows, 12 day beds, and more than 30 VIP sections on the lower and upper decks. Spinning on Saturday, September 4th, are world renowned DJs, Kaskade, and Cedric Gervais. On Sunday, September 5th, DJs Showtek and FAED will be running the show, and on Monday, September 6th, DJ Bhaskar will be performing. I believe ((in the most comical older, upper echelon white person accent possible)) this party will most definitely be lit. Just like Bungalow, seating goes super-fast, so buy your event tickets today at https://hq2ac.com.
In the wise words of Madge ((that's Madonna for some on you)), “music, makes the people, come together… yeah!”. Kick off ((or get down on bended knee… see what I did there?)) LDW with ((insert teenage Judy #girlcrush squee here)) Boyz II Men on Friday, September 3rd at Borgata Event Center. Come to her window on Saturday, September 4th and see Melissa Etheridge jam on her ovation guitar at Ovation Hall at Ocean Resort Casino and get your edgy honky-tonk on with Country powerhouse, Toby Keith, at the Mark E. Etess Arena on Sunday, September 5th.
I’d say this is a pretty impressive lineup of ideas to blow out ((or blow up, depending on how many white claws and high noons you can consume… as Judy looks up sharphly, double fisting drinks)) the end of summer 2021. So... you’re welcome. And of course, if you're looking for outside of the county you could always come on down to #DeauvilleInn for a most rad LDW Party on the beach... just sayin'. Just remember to NOT be me and drink responsibly. Let’s get the most out of our sunscreen before the sun goes away and the leaves start changing colors ((a cold shudder creeps up your spine as the idea of pumpkin spice everything takes the world by storm)). Until next week, folks… #stayjerseystrong!
