… of Summer that is. And just like that ((raises her hand slowly and lets out a fierce snap)) the summer is coming to a close. It’s almost Labor Day, people! It was only yesterday I was sitting in this very same spot at my laptop, still in my pjs at 3 pm, with my cup of coffee still half consumed from 9 am to the left of me, along with a lone stray Chinese dumpling on a plate, tapping away at the keyboard talking about all the exciting things coming up for the summer. I blinked and it’s almost gone. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally ok with this. Just last night I had this “ah hah” moment that sweater weather was right around the corner and I got so incredibly giddy inside. To which my friends yelled at me saying “noooo it’s too soon!!!”. It’s not like I slapped on my vest and knee-high boots, and I ran out to the closest Starbies to get a venti pumpkin spice latte. It just dawned on me that the summer zoomed by and suddenly, it’s going to be Fall. And I happen to like sweaters, thank you very much. It’s like being perpetually hugged and snuggled. I’m ranting again, I know. My POINT is the hype of the summer is wrapping up. Which means Labor Day. And what more American way to celebrate the weekend dedicated to the socio-economic achievements of American Laborers than by partying to the extreme with mass quantities of BBQ and booze?
Kick off the weekend in style by hopping over to Ocean Resort Casino - HQ2 Beachclub with Two Friends, on Saturday, September 3rd. No, not YOUR two friends. Although you should probably consider bringing a couple friends. I’m referring to the Los Angeles based DJ/Producer duo, Eli Sones and Matthew Halper, known as Two Friends. The party will be lit. That is all. Stick around because the party doesn’t stop that day. Hop over to Villain & Saint for unbelievable bites and beverages, with live music from the Adam Holcombe Duo, then cap the night off in Ovation Hall for The Magical Mystery Doors before they cash out for the summer. This tribute act blends and layers the music of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors to create something new and unique for music fans everywhere. Hear timeless tunes from each of these historic bands, accompanied by a captivating and immersive visual presentation. Then wake up on Sunday, September 4th, and party all day at HQ2 again with DJ and producer, 4B, Bobby McKeon. He’s bringing the heat! And so is the sun, ((den mom alert)) so don’t forget your sunblock.
Consider making it a weekend getaway at Hard Rock Casino Atlantic City this Labor Day Weekend. Rock your tastebuds ((a guy in the back nods in approval to himself and mumbles, “I see what you did there”)) with any one of their delicious dinner options like Council Oaks Steak and Seafood, Il Mulino, and Kuro, or my personal favorite, because I’m a giant child and why wouldn’t a milkshake have a delicious gooey burger perched atop it… Sugar Factory, then hit the casino floor running and enter for your chance to win your very own 2022 Tesla! Earn entries by playing your favorite slots & table games beginning Friday, September 2 at 12:01 AM through Sunday, September 4 at 4:59 PM.
Not a fan of Tesla? ((Elon Musk gasps while clutching his pearls)) Not a problem! Consider Resorts Casino Hotel instead! Resorts will be offering daily promotions, events, and specials to keep the fun happening all weekend long, including a BMW giveaway! And while you're there, fill your tummies at some awesome dining options like Dougherty’s Steakhouse and Raw Bar, Landshark, Margaritaville, Mukashi, and more. Go. Go now.
And that’s not all! What better way to send off a holiday than with gun powder and metal oxides? People have been doing it since the 9th century, so why stop now? End Summer 2022 by ohhing and ahhing at the amazing fireworks display planned on September 4th at North Beach Atlantic City. Get there early for boardwalk activations, giveaways and food and drink specials. Fireworks show starts at 8 pm. ((den mom alert #2)) Just remember to wear deodorant. It will be a lot of people crammed together, and it’s going to be hot, so… yeah.
And stick around in AC, because on Monday, Scorpion will be performing at Borgata. If you know anything about me by now, you know I’m a quirky history nerd, I am quite the foodie, and I have the deepest, most visceral closet love for 80s hair bands. Just ask my boss, whom I spent the first 6 months at ((shameless work plug)) The Deauville Inn begging to get Foreigner to come perform on our beach. Not that we had the capacity, or the means, but I pleaded, nonetheless. I mean I walked down the aisle at my wedding to Toto’s Africa, people. Anyway, I am super stoked for Scorpion, because one of my earliest memories was their song “Rock You Like a Hurricane”. I was in kindergarten. I remember sitting in the gymnasium with my class during our school’s talent show and the room went very dark. And just when us younglings started to panic and sob ((because the dark is scary and rife with scary things)) the curtain went up and a mist slowly started rolling along the stage, a mist so epic it rivalled the Mists of Avalon. And out of the mist emerged the first iconic, booming, electric intro notes of Rock You Like a Hurricane, along with my older brother and his friends, in tow, all clad in super cool sunglasses, rocking out to the song on stage. I distinctly remember the kids turning to me with faces full of shock and awe and me exclaiming, “that’s my brother!”. I was the coolest kindergartener for exactly one day. But I digress! One of the most recognized rock bands known for hit songs such as "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and "No One Like You", Scorpion, is coming to Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa Monday, September 5 at 8:00 p.m. Buy your tickets RIGHT NOW!
That’s all I got for now. Get excited for a slew of articles to follow regarding ((basic white girl alert)) all things Fall! Until next week, folks… #stayjerseystrong!
