When we approach a major holiday, I know I always say it’s my favorite. I’m aware. I’m just so overjoyed for celebration in general that when we near a specific holiday it automatically becomes my favorite. But in all honesty, I truly love Thanksgiving. And no, not just because of the rivers of turkey gravy and mountains of carbs I can consume, or the subsequent food coma that follows ((I love sleep so much just thinking about it makes me weep)). And neither is it my favorite because it’s a celebratory day that DOESN'T involve spending over $2000 on gifts. Thanksgiving is important because it’s a positive and secular holiday where we celebrate gratitude, something that we don’t do enough of these days. Originally it was a celebration for the fall harvest. Thanks for the bountiful crops so that we could have sustenance throughout the harsh winter. But nowadays it’s a time to pause and reflect and be appreciative for what we have right in front of us. And… an excuse to eat stuffing. Lots and lots and LOTS of stuffing.

Luckily, this year, unlike that last one ((that we won’t acknowledge thanks to something that rhymes with “shmovid”)), there are SO many special Thanksgiving events happening in our area. Join me on this journey, won’t you?

((Fun Fact alert!)) While it is well known the booziest holidays are New Year’s Eve and Mardi Gras, but did you know Thanksgiving Eve is right up there with them? I’m not sure why, but it is. Maybe it has something to do with everyone being in town. Irregardless, in the casinos, there are a ton of options.

Over at the Borgata, Premier Nightclub is hosting an epic Thanksgiving Eve Bash, and its grand reopening, so it’s an awesome moment unto itself, featuring Amicaz! It’s time to get loud and loose, so welcome Premier to their first weekend back onto the scene! And while you’re over at the Borgata you may want to consider popping into their Baking Company and purchase some of their delicious, baked pies. And lest we forget my most favorite buffet in the city, Borgata’s Buffet, will be hosting their own Thanksgiving Feast, with a ton of different special menu items like Roast Turkey Legs, Sage Stuffing, Sweet Potatoes, Glazed Ham with Pineapple Rum Sauce, and SO much more ((insert drooling emoji here)). Additionally at the Borgata, The Metropolitan, American Grille, Angeline by Michael Symon, and Old Homestead Steakhouse are all hosting comprehensive Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menus.

Feel like spicing up your holiday this year? Check out Makai over at Ocean Resort. Step into Ocean Casino Resort’s new pan pacific themed eatery this year and enjoy a prix fixe Thanksgiving menu for only $35 per person. Indulge in all your favorites with an island twist. Make your reservation today for your family and friends https://www.theoceanac.com/event/thanksgiving-at-makai/.

Resorts never falls short when it comes to celebrating a holiday, with Breadsticks, Capriccio, Dougherty’s, and Margaritaville all hosting abundant thanksgiving feasts. Pay close attention to Breadsticks and Margaritaville, if you’re trying to save money this holiday. With their panoramic ocean and boardwalk views, Breadsticks offers a 3-course prix fixe feast for only $30 per person, and Margaritaville is offering a full Thanksgiving Dinner for only $21.99 for adults and $12.99 for the kiddos.

Another option, that I always praise, is ordering your feast and passing it off as your own ((looking around uncomfortably)). Carmine’s (as I’ve mentioned in the past) produces such a phenomenal thanksgiving feast that includes a full 18 lbs. roasted turkey, and ALL the trimmings, perfect for a family up to 8 people. You can also check out McCormick and Schmick’s Thanksgiving Catering Package, for only $189, serves up to 6 people, and includes literally everything you’ll need to stuff your faces while giving thanks.

And I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t give a generous nod to my current home base ((shameless work plug)), The Deauville Inn. We’re accepting Thanksgiving Catering Orders up until Monday morning 9 am, with a full dinner spread and a TON of additional sides to enhance your dinner celebration, like our decadent Mac and Cheese, Cream of Lacinato Kale, and our super butter Apple Galette. I can personally vouch for the deliciousness, because I kept eating all of the food we were using for our Thanksgiving photoshoot ((#fatgirlproblems)). Email me at events@deauvilleinn.com for more details!

Just don’t forget to give thanks to those you love, and as we approach the holiday season, remember the stress levels are mounting! Let’s remember to be kind to one another. And the next time you enter the department store, and you accidentally crash your cart into the woman exiting because you were distracted by the TikTok video your best friend just sent you, don’t just sprint away at an Olympic speed. Maybe pick up the bag with all the broken glass that remained of her recent purchase and profusely apologize ((looking around uncomfortably.... again)). Just a thought. Until next week, folks… #stayjerseystrong!
